The second round of the 2025 French Formula 4 Championship took place this past weekend at the historic Dijon-Prenois circuit. For 16-year-old Italian driver Niccolò Pirri, it was another key step in his first full season in single-seaters as part of the FFSA Academy.

From the start of free practice, the weekend presented new challenges. The technical layout of the Dijon circuit, with its unique elevation changes and flowing corners, proved difficult to master. Niccolò took time to adapt and gather valuable reference points, using every lap to progress in his understanding of the track.

Qualifying brought its own set of difficulties. With a highly competitive grid and minimal gaps between drivers, Niccolò secured P17 for races 1 and 2, and P19 for race 3. While not fully reflective of his potential, these results left room for optimism heading into the races, where his focus shifted to gaining experience and climbing through the field.

Race 1 got off to a difficult start. After a tough launch off the line, Niccolò was rear-ended by another driver in the early laps, compromising his pace and rhythm for the remainder of the race. He crossed the finish line in 22nd position.

Race 2 showed better potential, but a driving mistake midway through the race cost him valuable time and positions. He still managed to recover to finish 18th. Race 3 was more stable, with Niccolò finishing 19th, though the performance was once again hampered by lingering issues with the car’s balance and grip.

Against the backdrop of an incredibly competitive 2025 field, these results reflect a weekend of learning and growth for the young Italian. Even more so with all the struggles to find the right setup all weekend, especially on worn tyres. With only two sets of tyres allowed from free practice through to the final race, managing degradation was critical. Unfortunately, the car’s handling on used rubber led to a significant drop-off in lap times, preventing Niccolò from expressing his full potential.

While the final standings may not fully reflect his efforts, the Dijon round was a constructive weekend for Niccolò Pirri. He continues to gather experience and build confidence with each session, surrounded by a supportive technical team and determined to keep progressing throughout the season.

Next stop: the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium for round three of the championship, where Niccolò will aim to put his growing experience to good use and take another step forward.
